O Pavilhão de Portugal na COP29 em Baku, será, no próximo dia 21 de novembro, o palco do evento "Nexus Clima-Oceano: O papel do Oceano na neutralidade carbónica", promovido pela Secretaria de Estado do Mar – Ministério de Economia.
O contributo das Áreas Marinhas Protegidas como reguladores do clima; o potencial do capital natural e dos serviços dos ecossistemas marinhos na gestão do carbono; a inovação tecnológica na monitorização do Oceano e os contributos para os balanços de carbono; o restauro e proteção dos ecossistemas marinhos e costeiros; os avanços na produção de energia renovável oceânica e a descarbonização do transporte marítimo e dos portos vão ser os grandes temas em análise.
Participam nesta sessão, moderada pela Diretora-Geral da Política do Mar, Marisa Lameiras da Silva, o Presidente do IPMA, José Guerreiro; o Diretor Regional das Políticas Marinhas, do Governo dos Açores, Rui Martins; o Chefe de Divisão de Monitorização Ambiental da DGRM, André Couto; o Diretor Executivo do Atlantic International Research Centre (Air Center), Miguel Miranda; o Diretor do +Atlantic CoLAB, Nuno Lourenço e o Director of Marine Policy Center e Senior Advisor do Presidente da Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), Kilaparti Ramakrishna.
